Morgan Sindall’s construction business Morgan Ashurst has been awarded a £17 million scheme to design and build a new centre for pharmacy and bio-molecular science at the University of Brighton.

The new 8,000m² building for the faculty of science and engineering will be built at the University’s Moulescoomb campus. It will feature two linked four-storey buildings to house laboratories and teaching rooms and an additional large lecture theatre for the campus.

A number of environmentally friendly features have been incorporated into the building’s design including a ‘living wall’, sedum roof and natural ventilation.

Work begins on site in April 2008 and is expected to be completed by December 2009.
